About this blog

Yours truly.Cycling is in my blood. I am a cyclist and a professional bike wrench with 20 years under the belt. I am also the founder of two cycling clubs, one here, in the San Francisco bay area and another in Manila, where I grew up.

First, let me tell you how this blog got started. One weekend while riding with my group, I hit the rear wheel of the cyclist in front of me at approximately 20 mph. It sent me flying up and turning 180 degrees, before landing on my right hip.

I ended up in a hospital with a pelvic fracture which required an ORIF (Open Reduction Internal Fixation). Major frame work guys! Ironically, it felt as if I was on the workbench with the mechanic working on me.

While recuperating from my injury, I was fighting boredom spending most of my time on cycling blogs. My brother-in-law noticed, so one day, as we were chatting, he grabbed my laptop and started typing away (he works for Google). An hour later BikeEmotions.com was up and running.

With twenty years of experience as a bicycle mechanic I know a thing or two about bikes, repairs and maintenance. If there is anything you want to know… just ask. I’ll give you updates on events, news and in addition to that, given my latest experience, I would like to talk about something that is rarely discussed… safety.

I know now there are precautions I could have taken to lessen the impact which caused my injury and I think that by sharing our thoughts about close calls, we can promote safer riding.

Lastly, what is so great about cycling?

Well, each one of us is different, for me it is the oppotunity to go and see places at the perfect speed, which I barely enjoy inside a speeding car. Riding a bike is more of an upclose and personal experience, a way to intensively live in the ever-changing moment, something like an active meditation.

Not to mention its health benefits. Did you know that cycling is rated number 3 among all exercising methods?

So, If you are like me and can’t stop thinking about it… I will be happy to answer your questions and hear about your bicycling experience, do not hesitate, the comment box is there for you. This is our site.
